Mission of Judging Contest Committee

Members of this committee support the intercollegiate livestock, intercollegiate wool and mohair, intercollegiate meat, 4-H/FFA livestock, 4-H/FFA dairy judging, 4-H/FFA horse, 4-H/FFA floriculture, 4-H/FFA nursery landscape, 4-H/FFA wool, plant I.D., poultry judging, wildlife habitat, food challenge and veterinarian skill-a-thon contests. The committee supports these contests through fundraising, hospitality and awards, and assists the superintendents in the operations of the contests.

About Us

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ was organized for charitable, educational and scientific purposes to encourage and promote the breeding, raising and marketing of better livestock and farm products at public fairs and to promote and maintain research and educational functions within the livestock industry. It is the general policy of the Show to utilize, in the fiscal year subsequent to which it is earned, the excess of its revenue over expenses for the furtherance of its exempt purpose, including the granting and/or funding of scholarships, educational endowments, agricultural research projects and other similar programs and the funding of related capital additions and improvements. The funds of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo are used exclusively to meet necessary expenses for its upkeep and operation and in furtherance of the exempt purpose of the organization. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is a Section 501(c) (3) charitable organization. The amount of the contribution that may be deductible for federal income tax purposes is the excess value contributed by the donor over the value of goods and services received. Through your generosity, the Show will be able to ensure more than 6,500 kids and 20 different contests succeed and continue benefiting youth and supporting education.
